Stink Bugs

Stink Bug Control

Stink bugs in our area have a characteristic shield shape. They are generally plant feeders, though some are predatory. The most common stink bug in the area is the brown marmorated stink bug.

An immature stink bug is called a nymph and is yellow and red in color. It has red eyes and as it matures the yellow of its body lightens to an off-white. Once it becomes an adult the average size of a brown marmorated stink bug is about 12-17 mm in length. Most stink bugs are nearly as wide as they are long. The adult is a brown color with lighter bands on the antennae and darker bands on the front wings. Our pest control team in Dallas can help!

How Did I Get Stink Bugs?

Every summer adult stink bugs look for a home for the winter. They start to gather on the outsides of buildings in the summer, then as winter arrives they move inside the home through any crack or opening they can find. They spend all winter hidden inside walls, attics, and crawl spaces. Then when spring arrives, the stink bugs crawl out and often into your living space. Once inside they tend to gather around windows or on walls, looking for a way out.

Why Is It So Difficult To Remove Stink Bugs?

As their namesake implies, stink bugs emit a terrible odor when they are killed. Many homeowners try to vacuum them up only to find that their entire vacuum reeks of stink bugs. They are also tricky to remove because they remain in hiding throughout the entire winter season. It takes expert pest control services to remove these smelly culprits.

How To Remove And Prevent Stink Bugs

If you have a stink bug infestation and you need stink bug removal services, please give us a call. We will begin by looking over your property for the locations that stink bugs are entering your home for overwintering. We recommend sealing any cracks that are more than ⅛ inches wide. We can also make recommendations for screening over roof vents, windows, and doors. Next, chemical products can also be used around possible stink bug entry points.
